How to Weave and Carve in Wool & Chenille.

3-D weaving enhances the structure and strengthens character designs. Character features are defined by adding material into specific areas, with wool thread and easy to find craft/sewing needles, helping create the exact design you imagined. Pom poms wrapped on a disc can have a shallow pile structure, meaning patchy thinner areas that open into the centre of the pom pom. Adding string or thread into these spaces thickens the body of pom pom units. Scissors sucessfully carve and shape these bulkiers sections, perfecting definition of the design outcome.

Step-by-step drawings of the weaving and shaping process provides specific illustrated areas to apply thread into the wool forms. 3 - dimensional weaving combined with scissor carving or trimming develops a subtle surface on the final appearance of the models. Not all of the projects include making and carving pom poms, some contain pipe cleaners or chenille stems only.
